omg smo

SMO Senior seems to have become considerably harder as compared to the past year papers for some reason.
It was quite scary that I could not do so many questions, and I think I almost threw up or something, so I went to the toilet to not think about it halfway.
Oh well, but it seems that a lot of people died for SMO, even Shi Jie says so D:
But there were definitely some questions that I could have answered, but I just forgot the methods to solve them. especially the one which sums fractions in the form (n+2)/(n*sqrt(n+2))(sqrt(n)*(n+2)), that was so much like the SMO Junior question, which basically was the same thing but with n+2 replaced by n+1, it was really annoying that I kept forgetting how to do that question, even if I learn the answer to that question, I always seem to forget how to do it the next time I see that question.
And then there was this dumb one, q10 of mcq where you are supposed to cut and paste aargh why didn't I see that.
Oh well maybe still can get gold medal with like 10 or 9 marks out of 35 :<

Hey

Good luck for SMO guys! mugging now

Well,

It has been a while since I've had time to update this blog.

So basically, I just realised that I was actually staying up later after exams rather than before them because I was choinging PBL (tanking a bit as well). Bio PBL mostly, but also I tanked quite a bit of SMP. Most of the Physics e-learning project was like "fold a paper aeroplane", so I let my other group member do that. For some reason while writing this I can't really seem to remember what else I was doing (short-term memory loss) other than doing bio/SMP until around 2am in the morning.

Msg 2.0, not especially good, it seems that so many people did well this term it makes me kind of sad, even though I did improve by a little bit. Apparently my english is pretty horrible. Well, at least the marker said I did not address the question well enough. Kind of my fault, because halfway through writing the essay I looked at it and thought "am I really addressing the question?" and then I decided that I was, so :/.

Well, at least it is an improvement. My Chinese and my IH went up one grade, meaning that my Chinese is actually better than my English. I find that somewhat unnerving. Math and Sciences yay, everything else :V

On a happier note I think I have cleared most of the pressing demands at the moment, like Bio and SMP. I have also been playing around with Adobe Illustrator (thanks to Lim Jing lawl). Here's what I've been working on for SMP and with AI.

SMP:

[EDIT: just realised I might survey some of you guys so no pics :<]

Messing around with Adobe Illustrator, very fun! lol:

This one involves extensive use of the crystallisation tool. The right side is quite nice, but the left side kinda messed up a bit.

This one uses the twirl tool a lot. I had to fill in all the gaps using paint bucket, that took a while lol but it turned out quite nice.

I like the second one better =D
Yesterday night I went to learn some physics for the Physics Olympiad, I basically revised M5 and M6 in one night lol.
Now I will probably slack off a bit more and then study for SMO.
Have fun, good luck everybody, hope we do much better next term! (and try not to waste hols lol)

Note to self: Uploading images to blogger messes up the formatting :< bad idea

help

someone recommend me a good shoutbox

what on earth are you doing

I told one of my project groupmates to do some graphics editing, and he did it, it was fine mostly, but there was one part where he some data a table with random pictures in them and I was like why are there pictures in them and he was like they come with the table so I told him fine remove the pictures, best if you just type them in a list should be fine. Then I HAD to CHASE him for a WEEK and then he sends me his edited photo, he just took out the photos and replaced them with empty boxes so now we have a TABLE WITH BIG HOLES IN IT which is bleugh. And he still hasnt done the other part of it yet.
Seriously, this project IS going to affect his GRADES NEXT YEAR because its his SMTP PROJECT and thus more significantly, it WILL AFFECT WHETHER HE GETS A SCHOLARSHIP, AND its not going to affect me so bad as I'm in a DIFFERENT SMTP PROGRAMME and I'm doing my Math project next year so WHY CANT HE CARE MORE ABOUT IT.
Really, doesn't anyone have any common sense anymore.
Update:
He's done the stuff, so yay.
Thank you. phew.

That makes me happier.

whoo rereading books

I have just realised that I have had a suddeng urge to reread some of my old books.

I very recently reread L'Engle's "A Wind in the Door", part of her famous time quartet (go wiki it). It is probably my most favourite book in the whole series. The concepts introduced are really curious and thought-provoking, despite being rather short, I still hold this book dear ( fun read =D). I recommend reading it lol.

Speaking of "A Wind in the Door", I remember I had a friend (Grace) in primary school, to whom I had recommended the book to. At that point of time, my class had just finished studying A Wrinkle in Time, which is the first in the Time Quartet. But lol she didn't want to buy the book because she thought the front cover was scary :<. Wonder if she's read it yet lol.

Also I am currently rereading Brisingr for no real reason whatsoever, just that I remembered that it was fairly interesting and I hadn't seen it in a while.

If you are a hardcore reader (examples: Isaac, my friend from primary school, my other friend from primary school, my other other friend from primary school, none of whom are Grace, and um, Isaac) I would recommend the Wheel of Time series. The Wheel of Time series is a fantasy series, comprising of 12(!) 600(!)+(!) to 1000(!) page books, of which the 12th is going to come out in three(!) parts in 2009, 2010 and 2011, and they had to split it up otherwise it would be so long(!) as to be unpublishable(!!!) i.e. physically unbindable(!!!!! o:) as it is estimated to be about 1500 (!) pages or about 800,000 (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) words long.

HARDCORE.

I got up to book 9 and then school started and I didn't have time to read it so I dieded.

It is a very nice read, probably the only problem the I have with the book is that somewhere around books 7,8,9 or so it gets a little draggier, kind of sad. Don't expect to be able to tank any one of the books in one sitting. There are 1800+ (!) characters so far in the fictional world, so you might be forgetting stuff quite a bit. (It's still worth it though =D)

If you're not so hardcore go for Ender's game, or Speaker for the Dead, (or the rest of the series) by Orson Scott Card. The second especially has a very nice message to tell. (sssh spoiler)

Have funs!

I realize once again how fail I am at blogging

Precisely.

This is not my first attempt at a blog, last year, when I went to Canada/USA Mathcamp, I tried to keep up a blog for the 4 weeks I was there, and I was like HOLY SMOKES I FEEL MOTIVATED TO DO MY FIRST POST and then after that I went into a bit of decline, failing to keep a regular schedule. In the end I started writing longer posts to make up for my lack of a posting schedule (and lack of pictures in previous posts). After I returned to Singapore I just failed a lot and nothing happened.

In one of the posts I did mention something about Hadamard matrices, and somebody (whom I looked up on the internets and found that he was a professor) offered to give me some materials on Hadamard matrices, and then I replied a few days later. Apparently I was too slow because he didnt reply. Q_Q makes me sad. I feel like I've wasted some kind of opportunity. [In any case I have tagged this post with lots of relevant tags so if you are anywhere out there, Mr Will Orrick please do drop by :) ]

My blog is still fail. I seem to run out of motivation quickly when trying to write a blog. For some reason all I feel like doing is the occasional random post on something I happen to think of.

Oh, and I applied for the Integrated Boarding Programme, so with any luck I'll be in boarding school (looking for one more person to share a 4-person room with).

Swine flu was kinda scary at first, but now it seems to have calmed down a bit, hopefully nothing else will happen.

Arthur Ganson is awesome. A must watch ^^. Personally I like the one with the cat and the chair.

I run out of motivation here.

About

Regarding the title of the blog, I stole it from my friend's (Matthew's) html project when he was in sec 1. He's in secondary 4 now. So there.

If I have time later I might write something else more substantial, but for now:
